The Asarum American Ginger, 'Asarum canadense 'American Ginger', is a wonderful ground cover that is grown for its foliage rather than it's flower. It has a plant height of 6-8'� and is extremely heat tolerant. The redish to green flower blooms on 'American Ginger'� appear in early spring and continue into late spring. Most of the flowers are hidden by the heart-shaped leaves that are produced.The foliage is shinny at the surface and the leaf stem is hairy at the base. 'American Ginger'� will do wonderful in rock gardens or as a border. Try mixing colors of other groundcovers with 'American Ginger'� such as Ajuga 'Chocolate Chip'� or Houttuynia 'Chameleon'�.
