Installation Instructions
To complete this installation, you must be able to reach the lower-rear corners of the kennel from the inside and outside at the same time. Because of this, Petmate recommends performing the installation with the kennel top separated from the kennel bottom.
Required Tools (not included):
- Small scissors
- A drill with a 1/4" drill bit
- A #2 Phillips-head screwdriver
- An 8 mm or 5/16" wrench (or an adjustable wrench)
Parts Included:
- 4x - Wheel Assemblies
- 4x - Mounting Brackets
- 4x - Bolts
- 4x - Reinforcement Bars
- 4x - Lock Washers
- 4x - Nuts
Step 1: Place the bottom half of the kennel bottom-upwards on a sturdy surface that is low enough to allow easy access for drilling the mounting holes.
Step 2: Using scissors, cut out the four wheel mounting bracket templates.
Step 3: Position template in each corner of the kennel making sure it is oriented with the tab facing inward and on a flat surface. Using tape, secure template in place. Repeat for three remaining templates. Note: It is very important to position templates properly. Back wheel must be in a straight line with front wheel to roll properly.
Step 4: Using a 1/4" drill bit, drill all 16 of these holes directly through the paper and the kennel bottom. Start each hole carefully to make sure the drill bit does not pull to the side, away from the correct hold location.
Step 5: Remove this template from the kennel.
Step 6: Using a Phillips-head screwdriver and an 8 mm or 5/16" wrench (or an adjustable wrench), bolt the four wheel brackets directly onto the outside of the kennel, through the holes drilled in Step 4.
The brackets should be mounted with the spring tab inwards. Each of the bolts should be used where the bolt goes through the bracket, then the kennel bottom, then the reinforcement bar, then the lock washer, and then the nut. There are four bolts and two reinforcement bars per bracket.
Step 7: Snap the rotating wheels into the front brackets, and the non-rotating wheels into the rear brackets. The non-rotating wheels should stick out toward the rear of the kennel.
Step 8: After reconnecting the top and bottom of the kennel (with the door in place), clip the pull-strap onto the upper left and right sides of the kennel door.
Quick Release Instructions:Inserting Wheel: To insert the quick-release wheels, push the spring tab down with the removable wheel, placing the longer, flat side of the wheel flange toward the mounting bracket. Slide the wheel flange fully under the metal edges, not just the plastic shell.
Releasing Wheel: To remove the quick-release wheels, press down firmly on the spring tab and slide the wheel out over it.
Usage Precautions: This wheel kit will allow your kennel to roll freely on most surfaces. Never leave the kennel unattended with the wheels attached, as it may roll away without warning, causing injury to the animal and others.
Remove the quick-release wheels and pull strap when they are not being used. The brackets may stay bolted onto the kennel bottom to serve as a stable, durable set of feet.
Made in China.
Pull strap is approximately 28"L.
