The muskmelon is about 6 inches in diameter and weighs about 3.5 pounds each. The Hale's Best Muskmelon is an annual and is very sensitive to frost. The vines spread to about 10 feet in diameter, about the same as most muskmelons. Plant in the spring, 1 to 2 weeks after the last frost when soil temperatures are warm. Muskmelons prefer light and well drained soil. Muskmelons use a lot of water but they should not ever be soggy wet.
